University of Arkansas Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering was awarded the Young Professional of the Year Award.

Nathan Becknell awarded Sarah Hernandez the honor on behalf of ‘MOVITE’ – Missouri Valley Section – Institute of Transportation Engineers.

“I am excited to see the work Sarah is doing to further transportation professionals and was happy to hand her the award!”, said Becknell, president of MOVITE. “Dr. Hernandez has quickly shown an ability to innovate and discover new ways of applying professional expertise in ways that are invigorating to those around her. We are proud to include Sarah as a member, pleased with what she has already accomplished, and excited for what the future may hold.”

This award is offered annually by MOVITE to an individual to recognize achievement in transportation/traffic engineering by younger members of MOVITE on the basis of submitting a technical paper. The award is intended to encourage the conduct and reporting of independent and original research and to provide a means for recognizing outstanding accomplishments in transportation/traffic engineering.

Hernandez was selected for her significant contribution to the communication of knowledge and for conducting an original study related to the field of transportation/traffic engineering.
