Chemical engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering offers undergraduate and graduate programs leading to the following degrees:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
  • Master of Science in Civil Engineering (MSCE)
  • Master of Science in Environmental Engineering (MSEnE)
  • Master of Science in Engineering (MSE)
  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

The BSCE degree is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org. In many states, including Arkansas, the Board of Registration for engineers requires each person applying to be a registered professional engineer possess an ABET-accredited engineering degree. Additional information concerning the Department of Civil Engineering and ABET accreditation may be found by clicking the link for "Accreditation / ABET".

Details concerning the Graduate & Under Graduate programs along with a list of classes may be found here:

The objective of the civil engineering program is to produce graduates who are prepared to pursue:

  • careers in the broad field of civil engineering
  • licensure as a Professional Engineer.
  • advanced education.

To fulfill these objectives, all students must take courses in geotechnical, environmental, transportation, and structural engineering. Courses are designed to present “real world” applications without sacrificing conceptual and theoretical basics. Students complete design problems in each of these areas; and, as part of the senior year, they participate in two major design projects.

Academic Integrity

As a core of its mission, the University of Arkansas provides students with the opportunity to further their educational goals through programs of the study and research in an environment that promotes freedom of inquiry and academic responsibility. Accomplishing this mission is only possible when intellectual honesty and individual integrity prevail.

Each student is required to be familiar with and abide by the University's Academic Integrity Policy. Students with questions about how these policies apply to a particular course or assignment should immediately contact their instructor.
